If I could sum up all that I have learned in the last few years, it would be that we are all connected. We are connected to each other, the land, the birds, the sea and the trees... everything is connected. And we need to take care of one another.... We need to take care of Mother Nature so she can take care of and provide for us.
I snapped these photos right before I left the house today. William and Georgia were getting along so nicely, Ruby was sleeping and the house was a mess with laundry and lunch dishes - but I was content. I don’t often feel this way, so I wanted to document it.... the kids still in their pjs at noon playing together. The rocks that they continuously collect which in turn has me collecting them from all over the house. The juniper branches Michael brought home for me. The painting my Oma made that brings me so much joy. The sleeping Rubes that woke up just in time for milk. And my favourite new dress from @adorncalgary
18 months ago I gave birth to her in this exact spot. She’s my third baby, my second VBAC and my first home birth... and she was my hardest labour of all. And she was worth fighting for for every minute and pushing for every single hour after hour it took to get her out. Her head was perfectly + severely cone shaped and swollen due to her being posterior and asynclitic. She pooped as soon as she gently came out and into her daddy’s loving arms causing a laugh from the most supportive birth team that surrounded us. I very weakly held her as I tried not to pass out from sheer exhaustion. I had been running on adrenaline for what felt like the entire day and I remember kissing her but also feeling so distant from her while my ears were ringing and I was trying to steady myself. My eyes kept wanting to shut but I didn’t want to miss a moment of one of the greatest days of my entire life. It is sad and so beautiful to think that we were one but in the very next moment, we were two. It seemed like it took forever but it also all happened so quickly. It feels so long ago but wasn’t it just yesterday?
I am feeling the urge to purge, redecorate and reorganize. Is anyone else feeling this way?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE!
Happy “I love you” anniversary, my love.
Merry Christmas 🤍
Did you know that Santa shops at BuyBuyBaby? I didn’t realize that he shopped there until Georgia asked for a crawling + talking baby (aka a baby like her sister, Ruby - but this baby she can play with nonstop) so we bought her the Baby Magic Crawling Baby Doll 4-Piece Playset last month and it is currently on SALE for Black Friday at @BuyBuyBabyCa. *This post is in partnership with BuyBuy BABY but Santa really did buy this gift himself (and some of the bath toys I shared with you on stories a few days ago!)
So. Proud. 👏🏼
Do your kids take probiotics? All of my kids take BioGaia probiotics on a regular basis. BioGaia is an evidence-based probiotic for Colic Relief and Digestive Health and I have been using and trusting their products for almost 6 years now! William takes it to help maintain his gut health, whereas Georgia and Ruby need to take it for constipation and tummy discomfort.
We put up the Christmas tree and Ruby keeps looking at it and saying “wooooooooow” and it is my new favourite thing. She also says “hi dad” whenever I start calling anyone and it is also my favourite thing. I have lots of favourites.
We are all home with the sniffles today and I don’t think it is fair that moms can get sick. The kids just want their mom to take care of them... But I just want my mom to take of me, you know?
While I was taking these photos, the sweetest little Ruby decided to crawl over to see me. I wanted to document it because it wasn’t long ago that she wasn’t even crawling on all fours. Now she is v v fast. She is proud of herself and we are SO PROUD OF HER.
I love him so much.
These photos were taken exactly 1 year apart —> swipe to see what they look like now 😭
